[RC] Ntl Show Horse reg. special - Jon . Linderman

For those of you who have "registerable", but not registered National Show
Horses (NSH), the NSH Registry (wwww.nshregistry.org) is having dramatic
reductions in the registration fees of arab/saddlebred crosses thru May of
    2003.

For purposes of clarification a NSH is NOT simply a 1/2 arab, 1/2
saddlebred, though that is the MOST common. This cross allows for dual
registration as 1/2 arab and a NSH, increasing opportunities to show in
both disciplines. HOWEVER, rules of the NSHR state a NSH can be up to 90%
arabian blood, no less than 25%, the remainder being made up of saddlebred.
In addition, when regstered NSH's are bred back to each other, which is
allowed, one obtains horses that have various percentages of arabian and
saddlebred blood, but who can not be regstered as 1/2 arabs given the fact
that neither is purebred. These horses ar termed straight or pure NSH's.
I hope this clarifies things since often times people are mistaken about
what is a NSH. Check the website &/or call the registry if interested.

There is also a growing acceptance of the NSH competing in Sport Horse
disciplines. I write articles for the NSH magazine and have featured the
NSH in dressage (thru Prix St Georges level), endurance, CTR,
hunter/jumpers,and although I missed my deadline, I will have an article on
a NSH on this year's Tevis ride.

There is also a new Sport Horse award program. Its just a start, and in no
way compares to say the Arab Sport Horse program, but I want to see it grow
and eventually recognize sub-categories for dressage, endurance, ctr,
hunter/jumper, and others. If interested please see there web site or ask
    me.

    trot on!
