    [RC] WNV update - Truman Prevatt

    After some thought and after talking with my vet I decided to give the WN booster. The vet did say that this might be the last year it is a big issue, however. It seems that at this time last year there were 400 cases in FL. This year there are 40. Sounds like they are all in Howard's backyard. His advice was give it this year and then play it by ear after that.

    He also said that at least one report in the media down here a horse was said to die from WN when it was really EEE that caused the death. He believes that most media reports are somewhat suspect. It looks like the model that predicts the biggest impact is the first year the virus is in an area is proving true at least in our area.

    Hopefully this is one vaccine that I can phase out in the future.
