[RC] what Ilearned at S2S - Larry Miller
Laura, you can do the S2S without a crew. After all you rode pregnant and
now your boy is 18 and HUGE! LOL.
Even with a crew, the S2S is difficult. But the horses get into it. They
figure out after day 2, that they are going 50 miles to the next camp. I
had to pull Maggie at the 3rd vet check on Friday but I think Mary and Cindy
made it. Good accomplishment!! Mary did use the collapsible bucket I told
her to get too. Tried to throw water on me when I teased her about it.
Sure felt good. Next time you go, have a hay bag with pockets and load it up
with all the goodies you need. Someone will take it and a bucket of water
for you to each stop. You may have to find someone at each vet check but it
is possible. That is what we did the first year we went. It was tiring,
but we did it. It is better with a crew. It is better if the crew will
also cook for you. It is better if the crew will give you backrubs. It is
better if the crew listens while you whine and gives you huge amounts of
sympathy. It is better if the crew willingly puts up with you. Yes, it is
better to have a crew, and if you are so lucky to have a crew, kiss their
feet!! Jeanie
