Ridecamp: Re: [RC] Swimming with horses (long)

We live near a big lake and swim with our horses when they are young.  We
lead them in slowly getting them used to the water and then end up lunging
them around us.   They walk in the shallow area and swim the deep end.  A
pregnant mare we had a couple years ago liked it so much that she would fall
asleep and float if you held her muzzle up above water for her.  I also
float around the young ones and end up laying across and putting my legs
over them since there's no weight.    They really seem to enjoy it when it's
hot.
