Ridecamp: [RC] dumb question?

I'm entering my first ride this month. Does an AERC membership exist for a
calendar year, or 12 months from the date of joining? I ask because the
other ride I was aiming for was Sunland, and I found out I will be in
Hawaii. I know, poor me. You all feel so badly for me. I haven't yet decided
if I will be sad while laying on the beach. Knowing nutty me, probably.
