Depends which ones you buy. DO NOT buy the local ones. Think corsets.
Think straight jackets. Think not breathing for 1600 meters.
Come to think of it...I'm not sure the not breathing is related to the
BP....but I digress!
The back has a harder padding - sponge I think. The padding has holes in it
to breathe so I would imagine that in the heat of summer, all you have to
wear is your sports bra and vest ....
Suuuuuuure! But the fashion-conscious eventer wears a rugger jersey / polo
shirt, colour coded to match the silk on your crasher.
Do endurance riders put silks on their crashers?

riders falls off and hurts himself very badly every year at our Nationals -
last year he broke a few ribs, the year before his leg - but this year he
wore one of those vests and never came off his horse! Magic? You be the
judge ;-))
See, this is why I don't wear a helmet. Every time I wear a helmet, I fall
off. No helmet, no fall. Must be something to do with it altering my
sense of balance :)

dear at the moment, but I suppose it's the same argument as for a helmet -
you get what you pay for.
When your budget allows, do the decent thing and import one from one of the
UK companies. The SA ones just suck.
