Try telling him you can't ride with him anymore unless he wears a helmet,
because it is going to cut into your ride time too much to have to take him
to the hospital, or wait for the hearse to come pick up his body. My riding
partner convinced me to wear a helmet by being conscious and walking away
from a stallion that reared up and came down with one hoof to her head. It
knocked her down, but not out. She was groundworking the horse, and had the
sense to wear the helmet even though she wasn't going to ride. I got my
helmet the next day. I also wear it when I'm groundworking a strange horse,
and always when riding. We pretty much have a rule, YOU RIDE WITH US, YOU
WEAR A HELMET! We don't care what you do when you ride other times, but we
prefer not to see spilt brains. I have handed a helmet to people who don't
have one and just said "Here, make this fit." I've never actually been
turned down. Some have told me they don't USUALLY wear a helmet, BUT, they
guess it wouldn't hurt. Good luck, jeri
