Re: [RC] Breed Profiling Gold Country - C. Eyler
It's been my impression that a wider range of horses can do R&T than
endurance.
The first R&T I saw was at Fort Valley some years ago (same trails as the
Old Dominion). Veteran R&T'ers Lani and Kathy had to make a last minute
substitution when their intended horse turned up lame the day before. They
rode a gorgeous, humongous, TB-percheron cross that required extensions on
it's English irons so they (or maybe just Lani LOL) could mount. I *think*
I heard Lani say that this horse is used for foxhunting.
No one that I know of made any rude comments about that horse except about
how hard it would be to climb up into the saddle. The mare came through
just fine. The fact is, though, that some folks just seem to *need* to make
cracks about non-arabs at distance rides. On the other hand, I've heard
applause at awards ceremonies when the speaker announced that a particular
horse that completed the ride was a QH.
