Re: [RC] [RC] WNV another view - Laurie Durgin
Get rid of the old stuff. It usually turns brown when bad, but not always.
Should have expiration date on it. I believe it is 3 cc for people(let me
check my epipen a second here). Oh well it says.3 mg. per dose. I used to
have to draw it up from a bottle , now it is neatly packaged for me.You give
it intramuscular. In people the thigh. I've done it twice in 18 years. Horse
dose , ask your vet. But it may only have a 20-30 min. window, and you may
have to give it again. Course it has all these warnings about stroke, etc.
on it. But We keep some when we give shots(my husband the 1st responder
ususally does it). Beats dying. . . Laurie and Rascal

This is for Dr. Heidi..............
I am glad this has come up. I keep forgetting to ask my Vet this question,
if you have to administer Epinepherine to a horse or if out on the trail
and the rider goes into shock from bee stings or what ever, what is the
dose to give to either?
Also, I have a very old bottle of Epinephrine, like years old, is it time
to replace it? and does it need to be kept in the fridge? And is this shot
to be given Sub-q or IM? rider or horse again.
thanks,
amber
