Ridecamp: RE: [RC] Day of the Horse: Bill No. ACR 175

Perhaps in the jaded arena of politics Rsolution ACR 175 is just offered
as a appeasement tidbit to the equestrian community.  However, I see it
as an opportunity for horse lovers to raise the awareness of the general
public re: the importance of the horse in human culture and history, and
how they now provide recreation for us, transporting us away from the
stress & chaos of our modern society.  Why not encourage equestrian
groups to plan events on that day (parades, trail rides, seminars,
playdays, etc., etc.,) and see that the theme of the day is
well-publicized in the media?  We all know the look of envy and
admiration as we pass by "ordinary folks" on our extraordinaty horses,
espcially the awestruck looks of children.  Let's take the spirit of the
Day of the Horse and use it build a more positive awareness for these
wonderful creatures who do so much for us.
