If anyone has any experience with this problem, I
sure would appreciate hearing it.
Long story short. I bought a starving, early
20's mare. Two weeks into her rehabilitation she decides to get a drink
and involve the hot wire. She rears up, takes a few steps on her skinny,
ancient hind legs and returns to the ground three legged. She is holding
her left hind aloft. A vet and a chiropractor later, here's the prognosis,
green stick fracture of the left femur.
She uses the leg a little, but is for all practical
purposes three legged. She is on a two grams of bute a day. Because
of her debilitated state the vet suggested not to move her in a trailer to get
an x-ray to confirm the fracture, she suggested waiting a month and then
checking her progress. She a sweet old girl and I'd like any advice I can
get.
Thanks.
