I happen to be the farrier's wife so my horses are ALWAYS last to be shod.
Sometimes they don't get shod or reset until the day before the ride. I
have never had to pull because of that (lots of other reasons though) and
I'd like to think that having the foresight to pull early in the game
(instead of TRYING to see how far you can actually go before the vet does it
for you) is actually a SMART thing to do. Even when a pull is due to
something stupid we could have prevented, it sure is smart of us to learn
from the experience.
