Ridecamp: [RC] Tevis--Japanese Participants?

Looking through the Tevis lists, I notice two
Japanese names:

190 - Masui, Mitsuko (Barberrys Nadya BL)
191 - Hayashi, Kanako (Bey Cinel BL)

Anybody know the story on these two?  Are
they from Japan?  Did they see the program
that the Japanese TV crew did?  Did they
fly over and lease horses for this?

completed in 26th position!
