Re: [RC] [RC] shoes reopened...NOT; now magnetic boots - Tamara Woodcock
Magnets do not aid in circulation. Magnets do not attrach red blood cells.
I've heard it said that magnetic fields attract blood, citing all the iron
and whatnot it contains. The problem with this is that the iron in the blood
is very different from iron in metal. Metallic iron is so strongly magnetic
because the individual atomic magnets are strongly coupled together by
ferromagnetism. Ferromagnetic materials are a result of the cooperation of
lots of magnetic atoms acting in unison. The iron in blood consists instead
of very isolated iron atoms within large hemoglobin molecules. Yes, they are
each magnetic, but being not near lots of other iron atoms, they are
magnetically independent.
So the net effect of this weak magnetism of the isolated iron atoms in
hemoglobin is only a very slight decrease in the overall diamagnetism of
blood. Blood, like water, is weakly *repelled* by magnetic fields, not
attracted.
While an effect of static magnetic fields on the complex electrochemical
processes of the human body is not impossible, it is so highly improbable...
Only proof so far on static magnets is the "Baylor study", (Vallbona,
Carlos, Carlton F. Hazlewood, and Gabor Jurida. 1997. Response of pain to
static magnetic fields in postpolio patients: A double-blind pilot study.
Archives of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine 78(11): 1200-1203.)
If using magents makes you feel better, do so. Just don't expect thme to
make the horse feel better, adn don't expect them to increase circulation.

<snip> Sea
water and blood serum are almost exact in chemical composition so,
magnets DO increase circulation of blood through veins and arteries
under the influence of magnetic feilds.
