[RC] Re Starts - CMNewell
You wanna feel like you are in a Dressage show ring??
Actually, the rules about "starting" in dressage are very simple and
strightforward. The instant a horse enters at "A", it has started the
test. Doesn't matter if the horse leaves before completing all the
movements, it has started, and it is recorded as "eliminated" should it
fail to complete.
The RM should have the discretion to decide whether or not he/she wants to
consider a rider a starter, if the rider stops for some reason early on.
That sounds to me like a rather enormous can of worms to be opening.
Early on is obviously a rather ambiguous term
Precisely.
, but again I think that we need to be very careful not to choke our
R.M.'s or our great sport to death with pettiness,
What could be simpler than a plain vanilla, "if they cross the starting
line, they're starters"? Seems a lot more straightforward and simple than
putting the RM into a position of having to split hairs over "how pregnant"
someone is. That would seem to me to be a much more likely source
of protests and hard feelings.
