John:
I must
disagree with you an this a bit.
As I
see it there is no need for a protest as two prominent Ride Managers have
admitted they have actually been involved in such actions. This alone could be
an assumption that others, not as forthright, have and will continue to enter
into such violations.
With
this information at hand and in the public domain, it behooves the AERC Board of
Directors to instruct the P&Z Committee to gather the facts and proceed with
what ever acts are necessary.
The
BoD, if they ignore these incidents, is acknowledging that they do not care
about the AERC Rules and Regulations, they do not care to function as leaders of
the organization and will appear to have abrogated their responsibilities in
favor of having some individual member appear foolish in front of the entire
organization.
Bob
P.S.
Here
is one for you and the Committee. The Formal Protest Procedures state:A protest is a properly documented complaint by
an AERC member alleg- ing an
infraction of an AERC rule or failure to apply a rule
properly.
A person paying the $10 fee is called a day
member as per the Ride Results Form. Then that person could file a formal
protest on that day the $10 was paid. There is nothing in the rules that state
the member connation is restricted to full membership.
Nor is the clause "a member in good standing"
or "voting member" required by this rule.
So If I want to file a protest I go to a ride,
pay my $10 and file the protest on that day by E-mail with a credit card
payment and everything is
legal.
Think on that a
bit.
Bob (no I will not do
it)

Jackie,
Seems to me that you are projecting a future where the number of
starters that may be miss-reported to the AERC is extremely large
and that this problem will overwhelm the ability of AERC to perform its
records keeping function. This challenges the personal integrity of every ride
manager who chooses to sanction with AERC. This is not a warrented nor a
reasonable assertion.
You
should, if you feel as you seem to express in this message, initiate a protest
based on rule 16.3. It is only through the protest and grievance procedure
that one goes beyond the AERC self policing mechanism.
Broad generalizations about precident and unfounded pessimistic views
of future systemic woes in a public form are of no
consequence.
To
file a protest, you must be a member of AERC and back your opinion with $100
(refundable if your assertions in protest are upheld).

BUT, I would say if the RM kept the entry fee -- it's a start
and AERC fee should be paid.
