I went to an equine reproductive seminar at Cornell
about
a decade ago. Harold Hines was the host
vet. I asked
some kind of a question about research funding
and
he said that the only reason that we know as much
as we
do, comparatively, about mare reproduction is that
equine
mares are considered a very good model for
*human*
female reproductive issues. Thus, equine
reproduction
studies are often
funded out of health care industry/government
sources.
