Re: [RC] Less controversial topic? Human hydration! - RDCARRIE
Sure hope there are lots of responses and lots of suggestions on this. I've
about come to the conclusion that I can't drink enough water and e-lytes to
survive a 50 in SE Texas heat and humidity. :( I do better now that I wear
a camelbak that holds 100 oz. But on a 50 this past Memorial Day weekend, I
drained that sucker 4 times on the ride (and had Gookinade, now called
Hydrolyte) in it, plus drank water and Gatorade (affectionately known as
"swill" - nasty stuff!) at all the holds, and *still* was getting woozy and
nearly ended up throwing up off my horse during the last 6 miles. I peed at
8:30 am, and not again till 5:30 pm. Yes, I do sweat a lot. Would love to
hear more suggestions to try!
