    Jerry..

Equithane works just great. But don't use equi-pak. Use the Hoof Builder fast setting stuff. Have your farrier "seat" the shoes. That is, grind away a little of the shoe on the inside to leave a gap between the sole and the shoe. Put duct tape around the heel bulbs, and pour the foot. Duct tape a 1/4" foam pad the size of the shoe over it. Hold it until it starts to set. Put the foot down an don't let the horse move until it hardens. The foam will compress under the shoe, but push the equithane up into the foot, leaving a "cup" for traction, just like you had put on a pad. When it hardens, rip on the duct tape, clean up around the heel bulbs, and there ya go....works great...but it ain't cheap. Hoof Builder is about $18 a tube, and unless you horse has very small feet, one tube won't do two feet. You also need a $50 gun to use it. The great thing is that after the ride, just pull it out. It's about the consistency of tire rubber. Have to work at it, but it will come ou!
