Couldn't agree more. I've been subbed to RC for about two years, even
though I don't do endurance. There are times when there's absolutely
nothing of relevance to me on the list, *because* I don't do endurance, but
every time I think I should unsub, somthing interesting crops up.
I also don't read Howard's stories (sorry, Howard), but that's because I
have ADD, and simply can't process them!
I'm not easily offended (although I'll freely admit that I am probably
offensive to some), and have spent enough time in and around rugby change
rooms to have heard every expletive in the book. And references to God
don't irk me, because I'm fairly sure that She's quite capable of dealing
with the offender Herself, without needing me to leap to Her defense.
The most offensive posts, to me, are probably the ones with zero content to
them...you know the ones : "you are a nasty, evil person and I'm never going
to speak to you again." Grow up : attack the message, not the messenger,
and if the person really pees you off, then simply delete that person's
posts.
Having said that, I will also point out that most adults learn that, if you
want to get a point across to an audience, it's a pretty good idea not to
stomp on that audience's toes. And if you're not sure which way the wind
blows with that audience, then it's a safe bet to keep religious references,
expletives, racial references and sexual innuendoes to a minimum.
Just something to mull over, Howard :)
