Re: [RC] THE Howard Stories' Cycle - Truman Prevatt
Well Karen, it like all cycles of nature. The harmony, the ebb and flow,
the rise of the crescendo followed by the thump of the crash. We need to
keep Howard. Some don't like Howard because Howard speaks a child's like
truth. Many didn't like his story on Dance Line's crash because it
reminded us of what can happen - to any of us. And I've got to believe
that some don't like Howards rambling about religion, ethnicity,
terrorism etc. because it may cut to close to home on the way they feel
but don't want to admit. We try to be apolitical but Howard keeps
reminding us we don't live in apolitical times - that luxury went away
on 911.
Finally - like it or not - Howard represents the best of family values
in this sport. A couple with their early teen daughter (who some might
find to be amazing that she is a very bright, polite and considerate
kid) coming out to rides and riding together as a family.
What do we do with Howard. Well it seems the cycle is about one year. So
I guess we just have Steph slap him around once a year at about the same
time with the stern warning "if you don't clean up your act, I'm going
to come back to FL next winter and beat the living **** out of you."
That should work.

there's Howard!!! He starts out with looooong ride reports, nicely,
humorously written, and then gets slowly revved up again, reaching new
verbally-raunchy heights/depths, then some of us slap him down, and
ALMOST kick him off Ridecamp. Then he quietly reappears again. Must be
our alter-ego, or something like that.... must be Howard!
