I would highly recommend the Pyramid Ride at the
Kentucky Horse Park. We took my whole family, in-laws, husband and two
small children and loved the whole adventure. It made for a nice vacation
with tours of the horse park, and all the festivities on the grounds such as the
Sulaki Dog show, a hunter jumper event, the Blue grass festival and of course
the Egyptian Event.
As Otis the head vet stated it was horse heaven for
all horse lovers. The course was nice with lots of Kentucky bluegrass and
flat ground. I was glad I had my experienced mare and not my young
gelding because the start was wide open around the steeplechase track, and you
could see horses coming and going at several places on the trail. The
humidity came out and most of the riders after 12th or 13th place slowed down
considerably but it wasn't terribly hot just warmer than it had
been.
It was great to see the 16 Egyptian or related
Egyptian horses in the arena Saturday night for recognition and to hear all the
applause. I think we made quite a positive impact on the horse world this
weekend.
I must mention Roxanne who had such bad luck at
first with running out of gas, losing her trailer crank handle, stripping her
trailer wiring out ,and then loosing her horse on the first loop and she walked
at least 5 miles not knowing that her horse was at the soccer tournament.
They found her horse she walked in mounted up and rode the 50 miles giving her
and her bay 2000 miles. I was quite impressed!
What a nice experience, try the ride next
year!
