Ridecamp: RE: [RC] virus

I don't think any any of the klez distributions have come through ridecamp.
It fakes the return address making it very hard to tell where it did come
from. I'll check the logs again tho just to be sure.

I've got virus scanning and size limitations in place on ridecamp which
pretty much ensure that it's not going to get through.  but everyone should
either:

a) use a good virus scanning system or service

or preferably

b) don't use microsoft outlook or outlook express for your email:)

I strongly suggest you ALL invest in the $20 or so and put a good virus
protection on your computer.  I am receiving the KLEZ virus from e-mails,
and I think some of them are coming from ridecamp.  It will worm its way
into your e-mails and send itself, then it will start corrupting your files,
particularly office 2000.
Things to check:
1.  run microtrend housecall online scan test
2.  run "FIND" in the start program for WINK* or Klez.h
This is a very bad virus...you may have had it for months and not know it.
After trying to get rid of it for two weeks, I had to take my computer
in...over 70 files were infected..took them forever to fix.
*WINK* (WINKOC or something starting with WINK) runs in your windows and
only the most skilled can get it out.

The people you may know who you get this from (somewhere down the line) and
the subject heading is such that you would be likely to open it.

Now I am off to do an emperical test with Freedom and Equi-Spot on the
herd......
