How much time does he spend outside during the day? If it is something that
happens gradually over the course of the summer,and doesn't appear to start
at the root of the hair shaft, I'd say it sounds like a basic case of sun
highlights rather than anything nutritional--we brunettes are just as
susceptible to them in the summer as blondes! I used to show with a girl
who had a jet black QH mare, and her solution was to keep her mare inside
during the day, and let her graze at night. The other option is to keep a
sheet on him in the pasture.
