Humans and a few other species are susceptible to a parasite called
Helicobacter that can cause gastric ulcers and is treated with antibx.
Horses don't get Helicobacter, so infections are a lot less likely to be a
direct factor---although the stress of any disease can contribute indirectly
to ulcers. It's so classic for sick, septic foals to develop ulcers that
they're treated for them right off the bat automatically.
