Being "ready" for medical emergencies is also a plus for
pit crews...Nelson came upon dirt bikers last year who had collided and wanted
him to load up and take their buddy to get help. Nelson refused, told
them to cover him up and keep him warm and went to call 911 and lead in the
ambulance. Kid had broken his leg and was in shock. Similar incident
on same trail this year only they weren't lucky enough to meet up with endurance
riders or their crews...instead the police and medical personnel ran a merry
goose chase trying to FIND the people who were hurt...didn't find out how that
turned out.
