[RC] Liberty Run /body sores - Ridecamp Guest

    Betty Washburn washburnb@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Echo and I completed our first 50 at Liberty Run this past weekend; she with great vet scores; me with horrible chafe/heat
burns on my legs and netherparts.

Most important: a well-run ride with the trail marked every
1/10 mi, yummy food, arresting venue on a huge (30,000plus acre
military base), gracious RM and volunteers. A very good ride to
do a "first" ride at any distance. A good number of 50 entries
elevated to the 100 (17 entrees).

Please help me out here. I wore my favored full-seat britches
with flat seams everywhere which have been great 'til this
distance. I use half-chaps and riding sneakers to complete the
picture. I have open sores running up my legs (and my bottom
parts are raw) tracking the seam lines. Also. nasty scalds
where my socks were (I wore them under the britches as they are
"supposed" to be the kind that keep you cool in summer and warm
in winter). Looking at Karen's pics of the Xpress, and some pics
of some of the 100milers, I notice that many of them don't wear
chaps; rather, high socks over britches. Can anyone help me out
here. We are planning to do our next 50 at the Pyramid in
Ky in 2 weeks. I gotta do something, or my mare won't speak to
    me.

    TIA,

Betty (who walks like a bowlegged sailor)
Echo (I coulda gone out again and done another 50 if ya hadn't
stood in the damn stirrups for the last 20 miles)
