Re: [RC] Suggestion for attaching HRM electrodes to neoprene girth - cheval
I have been using my HRM successfully with a neoprene girth for the last
4 years. My horse has sensitive skin so when I first tried vetwrap, that
created an irritation. Also the girth did not have good contact with his
side. So I cut the top off a thick ribbed wool sock and slide that
around the upper part of my girth to provide a surface that the
electrode will cling to. Then I put a small round sponge (tack sponge
works great under the sock cuff to raise the surface to make contact
with my horse's side. And just throw in washer to clean. Hope this might
be a helpful suggestion for someone else.

I've been having the same thing happening to my hrm as well.
I'm thinking the electrode on the girth isn't in good contact with his side.
I'm using a neoprene girth instead of the usual fleece covered mohair one,
and it tends to gape out some when I'm mounted. I've tried moving it to
different locations on the girth, but no help. I even tried to put it up
under the saddle on that side, but no reading at all there. Tried lots of
gel, thinking it just wasn't conducting, but still, the same problems.
