Re: [RC] [RC] Born to Trot? - FASTGraphic
I think everything is relative (as evidenced by the famous saying, "If it's
not one thing it's your mother.) My Standardbred has quite a trot - about 25
to 30mph!! Naturally!!! And if I let her go like that, she'd finish front of
the pack and about drop dead by the end of a ride - I know, I foolishly did
so my first time out. :o( I am "teaching" her to SLOW DOWN with pretty
good results (thank you Tammy!). My new HRM is helping me teach her since I
can watch her heart almost explode after a mile or so of that pace, and stay
in a much more comfortable range at a good trot of 8 to 10mph. Honestly
though, I am noticing very little difference between her rates trotting
"slowly" on flat terrain and her comfy controlled canter on the same footing.
On the hills however, there is a big difference - and we are learning to
trot in Arabic.
Well, there you have it. Nonsense from a newbie. :o) But I just
wanted to chime in on something, and I decided to forgo the underwear
discussion.
