I've been having the same thing happening to my hrm as well.
I'm thinking the electrode on the girth isn't in good contact with his side.
I'm using a neoprene girth instead of the usual fleece covered mohair one,
and it tends to gape out some when I'm mounted. I've tried moving it to
different locations on the girth, but no help. I even tried to put it up
under the saddle on that side, but no reading at all there. Tried lots of
gel, thinking it just wasn't conducting, but still, the same problems.
