I use el-cheapo dog collars from Wally World that have plastic hardware.
They hold up well enough in the pasture, but break away if the horse catches
them on anything solid. It takes two medium-sized ones to fit most of our
horses. Sometimes we have to tie knots in them to adjust fit.
