[RC] FEI Ride aka Masters Series - Randy H Eiland
I think the Sanctioning Director acted with the best interests of AERC
in mind. From what I understand (and this is hearsay), the RM was
promised between $6,000.00 and $7,500.00 by the UAE if she would " add" a
75 mile ride to her already sanctioned event, to be run as a Masters
Series Event. The petition to add the 75 mile Master Series distance was
after the minimum AERC Rule deadline of 90 days before the ride and the
Sanctioning Director could not grant the addition and would have violated
AERC Rules if the added distance would have been granted.
Additionally, anyone who investigates the rules of the FEI/UAE World
Masters Series (look up on the internet) will discover that it is highly
unlikely (almost impossible) for anyone but a resident of the middle east
to win any of the "promised" monies. I guess that brings the following
question to the forefront: Is the RM adding the 75 mile ride to help our
AERC & international Members or to satisfy the requirements for the ride
to receive the "windfall profit"?

Subject: [RC] FEI ride
Greetings,
I wanted to let all riders know that there is going to be an FEI ride
held
in conjunction with the 10th annual Great Northern Connection, Canada's
only multi-day ride. The ride is held on June 29th, 30th and July 1st at
the site of the 1999 Pan Am Championship in Manitoba, Canada by the same
management as the 99 PAC. There will be AERC sanctioned 50's each day as
well as a one day 100, 2 day 100 and 3 day 150.
The FEI ride will be held on June 29th. It is part of the UAE sponsored
Endurance Masters Series. This series has a very large purse to overall
winners in each region. I realize this is a very controversial topic but
I
wanted all international or potential international riders to be aware
that
this is a qualifier for PAC or Worlds. The latest FEI criteria is that a
horse has to have done a Star 2 or 3 FEI ride at 12 km/h. This ride is a
Star 2 and is 120 Km (75 miles). A star 3 is 160 Km (100 miles). It is a
lot easier to do a Star 2 at 12 k/h than a Star 3. It is a great
opportunity to get your FEI qualifier. AERC seems to be very opposed to
this series of rides and has refused to sanction this distance so it is
not
an AERC ride. I have also been refused advertising in a few endurance
publications. So it will not be advertised in any other form than this.
I do not want to start any great debate about this series of rides I just
want to make all riders aware of this opportunity to get your FEI
qualifier. Please contact Myna Cryderman by email
<mcryderman@xxxxxxxxx>or
by phone 204 - 534-2390 for further details.
