    While it pains me to do it, I must agree with MB. Not only are the physical demands of the cross country course extremely high, the risk is also high. One slip and it's adios for horse and/or rider. It is not only a test of endurance it is a test of strength, agility, training of the horse and the same plus riding ability and judgement of the rider. Sort of like the equine version of the decathlon.

    Sorry guys, but I disagree. I have ridden endurance for some 27 years and think that the "hardest" sport a horse can do must be Three Day Eventing. They have to do the jumping, endurance and dressage. The training alone is not only physically but mentally difficult for the horse and I think it takes really special horses to do that kind of discipline....Of course that is just an opinion cause while I have shown Saddlebreds, TWH, and western horses I have never done eventing. mb
