e-bay finds for endurance people
I just want to share with everyone what kinds of
things you find on e-bay.
I have gotten so many wonderful books. I found my
book on The Tevis Cup "One Horse, One Hundred Miles, One Day" illustrated by Sam
Savett. I have quite a few rare books on the Arabian breed including one that
lists horses that are registered as pure-breeds but are really
half/breeds.
Last night, I won a book from 1887 on the Art of
Horseshoeing and Curing Ails. This book is incredible. I was going to give it to
my blacksmith as a gift, but after the bidding was closed and I saw how much I
was going to pay, I decided to keep it:) I have started a very nice
library.
If you type in "endurance" on the search you will
find saddles, easy boots, biothane tack, anything you can think of. I have even
seen very nice trailers going for a decent price both new and used.
As much money as we put into our sport, what with
traveling, ride fees, shoeing (or not), feeding, health certificates, etc.,
e-bay offers some really good steals, I mean deals:) I am all for supporting our
local tack stores but if I can find an Ortho-flex saddle, brand new for $600
less than what it costs from the company, then that is $600 I get to spend on
other things. Like that new blacksmith book. Ouch!
Don't forget camping supplies! Whatever you need is
on there. You can also find grass seed for your pasture and fencing to go along
with it! How about a tractor to mow it? It's there. Now, even car dealerships
are putting trucks on there!
So if you didn't get what you wanted for Christmas,
check out E-bay. Lisa Salas, The Odd farm
