Do abdominal muscle strengthening exercises and ride as much as possible.
the more you ride, the stronger your abs and your back muscles become, the
better you'll feel. My husband had herniated discs some 35 years ago but
would not have surgery. He toughed it out and now has had no disc problems
for probably 15 years, maybe even 20.
