Cross-Country Shipping Questions
I'm negotiating with cross-country shippers to bring my five-year-old
Arab mare (and hopefully future endurance partner) from Maryland to
Southern California.
Thus far, I've received two quotes, both for $1,600 for a double-sized
stall. Both shippers say they normally charge $2,000 for a standing
stall and $2,900 for a loose box. The catch is that pickup is right
around the corner -- early to mid-March, and I really didn't want to
ship until mid-April.
Are these really "special deals," before the busier spring season kicks
in, or will I be likely to get my horse shipped anytime at the lower
rate?
Thanks for your input. (If you've had a good or bad experience with a
shipper lately, I'd also love to hear about it...)
