Re:WitezII stallion and gelding
Mature stallions that have spent significant time in a "herd" or "pasture
breeding" situation will often retain the "herding" behavior long after they
have been gelded. Confined horses don't seem to so much.
The nicest stallions kept in confined situations, alone, will often become
pretty nutty. (Compare it to solitary confinement for people) It does
look as if this horse is trying hard to be good. His behavior under these
conditions doesn't indicate a poor dispostion. If he has little experience
with mares, getting a mare covered, especially a maiden, may be tricky, even
dangerous, for both horses and people. If you decide to breed your mare to
him, do get some REALLY knowledgeable help!!
