If I remember correctly, it's something like that Calcium & Phosphorous
have to be balanced, and that the endurance horse loses lots of calcium
but not necessarily phosphorous? throwing it out of balance. You add
calcium to balance it back but if you add phosphorous too you never catch
up. That's from memory and I could have it mixed up. Why don't you ask
Susan Garlinghouse. I was happy when I discovered dicalcium phosphate
because it was packaged for horses and it gave me confidence to be sure
it was edible. But then I mentioned it on ridecamp and someone told me
about the phosphate being a problem.
