Stocking-up

SSmith Ssmith@aol.com
I have a 7yr old gelding who "stocks-up" in the lower back legs. There is
no particular reason that I can think of that makes this happen. It's not
related to long rides, sometimes just because.

He has PLENTY of room to move around in, big stall and BIG paddock. He
also is turned out, out on trail or in a lesson everyday. We only ride
3-4 times a week with a lesson once a week. He does everything his
girlfriend does, and she hasn't no problems.

We have trail riding for one year now, and I did start him slow. I'm
wondering if anyone else has seen this? The little bit of swelling goes
down after a walk-out.

I am wondering if medicine boots would help for support? Is it diet? His
exercise is no more and no less than two other horses of ours with no
problems??

Help!
