winter in Montana
Ten below zero here this still-dark morning...the
ground has been covered with over a foot of snow for several weeks... and the
ponies are covered with thick, puffy winter fur. Soo cold that frozen
white frost patches form on all and any parts of their bodies where warm air
escapes(including all around the head of their tails!) Pulling my trusty red
hay-feeder sled out to their pasture yesterday evening...three grey
wolves were crossing the meadow at the same time...they stopped and sat and
watched me as I threw the hay...And when I was done I sat on my sleigh and
watched them as they nonchalantly moved off into the forest...only
occasionally glancing back at me. Earlier the horses were running all
about...snorting frozen snorts...soo alarmed and worried...A BIG bull moose had
found his way to the open spring in the east pasture...totally oblivious to the
prancing, snorting freaked out Arabians!....Good old Montana...I love it more
than I can say! Happy New Year to you all!!!!!!!!!!!
