Having a 3/8" rim of steel is the protection And yes after traveling 100
miles or so the horses foot/ankle/leg is tired plus rest of body  probably
has some pain especially carring saddle and rider Bobbie<<
Yes, and after travelling 100 miles with a metal edge that inhibits the
hoof from performing it's function, the muscles tendons and bones
definitely have more stress and would be tired.
What about at the beginning of the ride?
That doesn't explain how that piece of metal at the edge of the hoof
protects the horse from pain.
