? shipping 6 mth foal

A friend of mine just had a 6 month old QH filly shipped in from
Nebraska.  We live in MD.  Her dad raises cattle and normally any
calf/cow shipped in is put on antibiotics immediately to ward of colds,
etc.  I wouldn't think this would be the normal practice for foals but
wanted to see how you all handle this.  Thanks
