I used to be very afraid of sheer drops off to one side when I first began 
riding out here in New Mexico in the canyons. Then I began to realize that 
the horse doesn't want to fall off the edge and will do its best not to do 
so, so I began to trust my horse more. This doesn't apply to green horses -- 
they need to be introduced to the mountains and canyons as we do.
