high humidity conditioning
I would add to Truman's post about riding in high humidity.....taking
the water off is as important as putting it on - esp. at a check. Put a
spongeful on, then scrape it off with the other hand or a scraper, put
another sponge-full on.
The water **really** heats up as it travels over the body - just put
water on a hot horse and put your hand under his belly to feel the
run-off - the temp difference in the water is amazing.
So get the water on, let it do it's job and then get it off and put some
fresh water on.
