It depends.  Have sire and/or dam or any siblings or any relatives done 
athletic in their lives (i.e. not in a show ring), and if so, how'd they 
do?  What's the conformation of the gelding?  How was he raised?  What's he 
like to work around?

We've sold prospects of that age for up to $4000, but then there was an 
athletic pedigree supporting the price (track racing plus endurance in 
siblings, sire, dam and/or grandparents), the horses were raised running 
free all their lives, they were like puppies personality wise, and had good 
conformation.
