Thick Urine
B Horstmeier BHorstmeier@gwbakeries.com
I recently rode someone gelding on a flat, sandy 50 ride. This horse
had gotten "crampy" about 1 1/2 hours after the last couple of rides.
Blood work did not show anything unusual.
For this ride we electrolyted well starting the day before the ride. I
did notice his urine was a little dark. As the ride progressed, his urine
got thicker each time. The color did not darken, just thicker. After the
ride he had no crampiness but extremely thick, yellow urine. Almost like
scotch pudding. He was eating, drinking and walking well.
Has anybody experienced this type of situation? Does anyone have a
clue on how to solve the problem?
