My opinion on that:
I'd imagine, that by the time you find a copper pipe,
and actually get it into the grain bucket, that mare's
gone out of heat.
The more scientific answer would be that the form of copper
that probably rubs off a copper pipe is copper oxide... and
I beleive only about 25% of that form is bioavailable, so
the amount of copper the animal is getting from a copper
pipe in a grain bucket
is about nil.
Horses get more exposure than that from chewing on a copper
mouthed bit.
