Arrhythmias
Dru tdmonte@theriver.com
Ok, for those who are interested, when an animal like a horse or a human
get fitter, they occasionally get heart arrhythmias, or irregular
heartbeats, this is no reason for concern, and is in fact a sign that they
heart is getting stronger. The chambers of the heart often take on more
blood as they get larger/stronger and expand , giving you the longer
"whooshing" sound during examinations. It is called an athletic
arrhythmia. It goes away eventually.
