Icthamol is ground up long dead rotting fish in used motor oil. :)
Well, it smells that way. . .
Actually, it's a black greasy salve that's great for drawing infection out of wounds on livestock. It's stinky, nasty, guaranteed to get all over you, and works great.
You can order it through Jeffers (do a search on the Net for Jeffers Equine) or any Petsmart Equine.
I'd consider it a must-have around any farm or ranch.
