Moab Utah

Hi John and Meshack,

Sorry I have not responded earlier to your request for information about
Moab, Utah but I just got caught up on Ridecamp.

I live about 120 miles north of Moab but have spent a lot of time there
since childhood. Moab is a lovely little desert town and has lots of
activities for tourists. The locals would tell you it has too many
tourists and you are going at the absolute perfect time for the weather
so you may also find the town full. Make sure you have your
accommodations arranged well in advance. Spring Break is a time when the
college kids all come to the desert and it can get a bit hectic. You
might want to call the Chamber of Commerce and make sure what big events
might be going on at that time. The Jeep Safari ties up the whole town
and if you are not 4 wheeling, you will feel a bit overwhelmed. If it is
a big even weekend, stay at an out of the way place rather than right in
town.

The Pack Creek Ranch has facilities for you, horses and lots of trails
for you to ride. The Backpacking is legendary but so is the horse back
riding. I can probably help you find someone with horses if Pack Creek
is full or too expensive. I would come down and ride for an afternoon
with you but that is the week I leave for East Cape Province, South
Africa and hope some endurance rider there might take me for a ride. I
do have friends in Moab who can give you and your son specific
information.

Moab has Arches National Park, Canyonlands, The LaSal Mountains and a
really fun night life. Here are a couple of websites:
